Press Release by Billericay Brewing 3rd March 2014

Billericay Brewing Company Ltd will officially open their own brewery at 5pm on Friday 7th March 2014. Fellow local brewers and SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) representatives Nigel Sadler and Sophie de Ronde will be performing the “cutting of the tape”. The brewery is located at 54B/C Chapel Street, Billericay, CM12 9LS.

The Essex Beer Shop opened on the same site in June of last year, stocking Billericay Brewing’s own beers as well as beers from other local Essex and London microbreweries, other local drinks and food products and a regularly changing guest beer range from other UK and international breweries.

The official opening will be followed by a brewery open weekend with bar on Friday evening 5-9pm plus Saturday and Sunday afternoons 12-5pm..

Billericay Brewing was established in 2012 by former teacher and industrial chemist Trevor Jeffery. The company’s aim is to make craft ales of taste and character. Billericay Brewing joined The East Anglian Brewers Cooperative and has been making collaborative beers with Dominion Brewery Company, based near Moreton in Essex for the past year. Trevor would also like to thank Andy Skene of Dominion for all his help in starting up – unfortunately he is out of the country during the opening.

The brewery has the capacity to produce 3 batches per week of 720litres of beer. It was designed and installed by Richard Venour of Vens Brewery and previously of Crouch Vale. Four beers have been produced so far, Mayflower Gold, A Mild With No Name, Billericay Blonde and Billericay Dickie with a fifth beer Chapel Street Porter in the pipeline. The beers are available from The Essex Beer Shop in bottles, 4 pint draught take home containers or large bag in the box polypins. It is also planned to supply beers to local pubs, clubs and beer festivals.

The brewery also offers tours, tasting evenings, brewer for the day experiences plus wedding and other special occasion beers.
